Scaffold and Gangplank

Since we face the problem that we can not construct the upper layer of the dome due to it height, each section need to make both scaffold and gangplank to climb up. A scaffold contain 1m×1m×6m high whereas a gangplank, 3 bamboo width, 6m long.

On 21 Oct, 4.30pm, we started to do it with our section members. Those who strut have problem will continues to repair their strut to ensure both of it ends are strong enough.

We use square lashings to bind together two bamboo spars that are at right angles with one another. From there, I started to learn lashings.

Completed scaffold.

On 22 Oct, our section make a meeting on 3.00pm and continue our Thursday work. We retie the string because it all loose on the second day. I feel very upset. Why like that?! We spent a lot of time and energy to do it. That is out hard work..

Shear lashing is use to bind the bamboo side by side. Luckily my friend is scout before and she have been taught me a lot of difference kind lashing.

We wait for the strut checking and afterward screw for it to be more tighten.

On 23 Oct, Saturday, work continue....

Studio is tidy up. We bring some of our projects done before for the exhibition.
